Marriage is the most important decision you and your future spouse with ever make. This is your person! Your person to enjoy, pursue and navigate the rest of your life with!
Be proactive, start off on the same page! The SYMBIS assessment is a tool that can help a couple explore parts of themselves that they may have not yet considered. Mixed with premarital counseling, it’s fun, it’s enlightening, it’s proactive and it’s proven to help a marriage last! “In fact, couples are 31% less likely to get divorced if they get some sort of pre-marriage training before they marry.” (Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott). It is an investment that will pay off dividends throughout your lives!
Your counseling sessions will be with Kecia and her husband Fernando. They are both certified SYMBIS facilitators. They find it a privilege to come alongside couples as they form a firm foundation that they can start their marriage on.
The SYMBIS assessment

“A couple that is about to be engaged, already engaged, or even within the first few years of marriage is in a prime place for the assessment. Whatever a couple’s circumstance, the SYMBIS assessment will “know “ who they are as they answer preliminary questions and it will customize the report accordingly.”(Drs. Les and Leslie Parrot)

We will work with you over 5 sessions. You and your fiance will take the assessment completely separate from each other (we know, that’s going to be hard, but you can do hard things! We have faith in you!). Once we receive the report we will call you to schedule your sessions!

A session lasts for approx. 1 hour. In each session we will work through a portion of your SYMBIS assessment report. We will look at your responses together and consider the characteristics that you each will bring to the marriage, the good things and the challenging things. You can bring your questions, worries and frustrations with you! That is what this is all about.

Visit our contact page and fill out the form or give us a call! Once we get your information and the premarital counseling sessions are paid for, we will send the link for the assessment to each of you separately. You can each take the assessment when it is convenient for you. We will be notified once both of you have completed your assessments. We will then take time to go over them and then call you to get your sessions scheduled. If you have any questions come up, note them on the contact form, ask when you call or send us an email. We will be happy to try to answer them for you!

Our Story
Fernando and Kecia have been married 31 years! They met in college while taking a math class that neither one of them were thrilled about. After their first date, they each knew! A year and a half later they were married. Ps…they both finished that math class with an A! Finding a good study partner makes all the difference! :)
The road has been rough at times coming from two different cultures, experiencing multiple pregnancy losses, the aging, care-taking and loss of parents, job losses, fostering 6 children over 4 years, uprooting their family to move to another state for a job and much more…yet there has been many smooth parts to the road as well, meeting each other, committing their lives to Christ, the births and adoptions of their children, renovating their homes together, faithful friends and supportive family, finding the New River Valley to settle in…and those are just some of the good things!
Throughout their life they acknowledge the importance of each of them having their own spiritual walk with God, placing Him first and each other second. God has always been a part of their marriage and forever will be. They hope that they can encourage couples starting out, that there is hope for their marriage to last and the more you can discuss before you get married, the better! Fernando and Kecia completed premarital counseling before getting married as well and know it helped them a great deal. Marriage is a wonderful thing, God’s best design! Will it be hard at times, yes, but it can be so very good too, and you will have each other to experience it with!
