Kecia D. Guerra, LPC, CCTP
Kecia’s approach to counseling is warm, empathetic, encouraging, eclectic, collaborative and holistic.
Kecia is a wife of 31 years and the Mama to five wonderful human beings, and now a mother-in-law too! The years have brought hardship in Kecia’s life, times of grief, loss, overwhelm, anxiety, depression, care-taking, life transitions and the list goes on. It is because of these experiences that she felt called to become a counselor. “Life can be very hard at times and goodness knows we cannot go through it alone. As the world continues to shift and change, our children are struggling, parents are struggling, young adults are encountering intense decisions as they become independent and adults are just trying to hold on as they try to work, balance family needs, pay the bills and just survive. People are in need of encouragement, a safe place to land, a empathetic ear, helpful feedback and a place to reflect and reset.”
A graduate from Liberty University, Kecia has a Master’s degree in Professional Counseling and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a concentration in Christian Counseling. Kecia is also trained as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and a SYMBIS facilitator.
Kecia has experience working in the New River Valley community, in the public school setting as a therapeutic day treatment counselor, as well as a mental health skill building counselor and an outpatient counselor in group practice. During her practicum and internship she served with a school counselor and a play therapist. Kecia has served as a foster and adoptive parent as well. She is grateful for each of these opportunities to have served the community and grateful for the children and individuals she has served and still carries in her heart every day. She is excited to now be in private practice and be able to continue to serve the community.
Kecia is currently a member of the American Counseling Association, the Association for Child and Adolescent Counseling, the American Association of Christian Counselors and the Association for Play Therapy.
Ellie - Receptionist
Ellie is the smiling face that will greet you at the front desk when you arrive for your appointment.
She will be the one you talk to when you call in or email to schedule your appointment. She is happy to help answer any questions you might have and looks forward to serving you.
Ellie is currently attending college and working toward her degree in digital design. She loves a good cup of iced coffee, helping out at church, drawing and creating! On top of all that, she is our social media wiz too!

Fernando Guerra, M.A., M.A
As a certified SYMBIS facilitator, and husband to Kecia, Fernando is joining her in working with couples as they embark on the journey of forming a firm foundation for their coming marriage. Fernando is a Senior Computer Aided Design Tech currently employed with Virginia Tech using his talents in the space planning department. He has a Masters in Art and a Masters in Art History and was a former college art professor.
